The best and fastest FTP client I have found for Mac. I have been looking for a dual pane FTP client for quite some time. I have known about Forklift for years and I have even tried it once without really getting to know it. That’s because the app looks limited in functionality. It turns out it’s the opposite. In true Apple design fashion the power functions are hidden from view. I love that, it makes the app more elegant, but it requires a few extra minutes of playing around with the app and going over the help file.
One reviewer complained that there was no way to permanently keep the remote server in the right pane and the local folder in the left. Each time you log in to a remote site you have to manually switch panes. But after spending some time with the help file I realized that you can create a Workspace for every login.
Open the Favorites pane and create a new login. Login to your remote server. Decide in which pane you want the remote server to appear. In the local pane brows to the folder where you have your work files. Under the Favorites dropdown menu select Save Workspace. Name it and it will appear in the sidebar. Next time you want to login to your remote server just click the button in the sidebar, you are automatically logged in and the panes will adjust to your preferred configuration.
I bought it as an FTP client but I have also found it to be an exceptional file browser. I wish I had bought Forklift sooner. Highly recommended!
