Fantastic Application

Id purchased this a while back and push myself to start using it. Today, I had a lot of work to do with files and decided to go for it. This is a fantastic application. All of those things that finder does badly or just doesnt do (filtering through a folder youre already in, easily viewing two folders, Lion full screen, integrated FTP), wow. Great software. Thank you BinaryNights!

Quick and reliable

This is the best and fastest sftp client out there. I still cannot believe how quick it is to connect to remote servers. Added bonus is the removal tool that it comes with. very nice!

Fast and works great.

This app is fast and works great. It looks good and speeds up using FTP servers.

Good when it works

The program itself isnt as intuitive as Transmit in my opinion. It also isnt as relable. While this works great when it is working, it does occasionally freeze when downloading to my external hard drive. The most recent time it froze, I ended up needing to force quit it, and it deleted 120 GB of local files, so that wasnt a pleasant experience, itll take a week to re-download all of that. Also would be nice if it had segmented file downloads, but neither this or Transmit does.

Frustrating "password request" you cant bypass

I like this FTP transfer application but theres something utterly frsutrating about it. If you stop using it for a few days —which is NORMAL for most people— itll start asking you to re-type the passwords to your accounts, as you try to access them. Thats a lot to ask when you manage a bunch of FTP accounts, which most of us do. The preferences panel is very thin and of course, theres no way to turn this "password request" off. So youre forced to constantly go back to your list of passwords and re-type them in, all the time, forever. Its so dumb! Such good software with such a dumb feature thats probably frustrated just about everyone who bought it. Until this problem is fixed, I dont recommend you spend your hard-earned money for this FTP transfer application. The competition doest have this kind of "password request" problem so youre going to be way more productive there.

So intuitive

I purchased this way back after reading raving reviews and its been sitting on my dock for a few weeks. Today I decided to fire it up to see what it can really do. The fact that I can have multiple finder windows open within different tabs has already allowed me to continue business late into the night and eliminates all those frustrating moments of looking for a folder in individual Finder windows. Keyboard shortcuts to switch between tabs and panes are also very useful. To me, the tabbed feature alone justifies the purchase. In time Im sure there will be more features Ill discover that I love.

Almost perfect.

Id be using this full-time if it had support for Spotlight comments, i.e. column view, and in-place or command-based editing of comments.

The best FTP application

This app is the best FTP application for Mac. Not only does it look great, but it has the best functionality. Every person who sees me using it, finds it awesome. They want to know everything about it. You cannot go wrong with this app. I use it almost every day.

Perfect!

Its perfect! PLEASE do not change the full column file colour coding system like Apple did to finder. Finder is useless now for this changing this to a dot, A DOT. You must leave it as it is now. Colour coding files makes finding files so much faster just by looking at a folder. BEGGING YOU not to follow Apple!

Takes over all of your archive file associations

I only use ForkLift for accessing AWS servers. I do not want to use it as a general file manager. However, after you install it, it makes itself the default app for opening all of your archive files (RAR, 7z, etc). Thats pretty obnoxious and it doesnt even give you a dialog to disable that.

Works Great!

I use this for accessing S3 and FTP and it does a great job of doing exactly what it says it can do! Love it

One of my few apps which just work and work and work!

I sit on a desk foll of computers. In the centre is my iMac and every other machine is networked to the iMac. My job is mobile app development and website maintenance to announce the changes and news and update everything. I have tried several FTP clients and some worked great for a few days, some didn’t. I am glad that I have discovered Forklift. I regularly edit files on the server and Forklift handles everything without a single problem. In the past, I would create a huge mess when directories were accidentally dragged into some other directories. Not pretty. Forklift is very smart in that regard. I can keep working with my WACOM pen and everything drops just where it needs to go. I wish some of my other little headache apps would behave as good as Forklift. For me, well worth the money because I have several worries less now and I get more done. Forklift is a solid SFTP client. I love working with it altaugh I no longer notice that it is there.

Total Commander user

The best dual-pane file manager I’ve tried on Mac. Still missing a few things that makes it not as good as Total Commander. Could be improved with: 1. Rick click to select and right-hold for popup menu (like Total Commander). Its a good way to allow mouse only operation (rather than shift clicking everything). 2. Command buttons at the bottom of the window to help mouse only operation. 3. Dedicated uncompress function to expand files into the other pane. 4. All around better integration with compressed archive files. E.g. browsing archives as a folder and adding/deleting/modifying files on the fly with the usual move or copy commands. 5. Ability to create your own toolbar buttons with scripts or Forklift actions.

Fantastic App - bulk file renaming with stacked Regex replace is a great feature

This is a great app. I haven’t found anything else quite like it. It’s both a two-pane file manager and a file transfer client. I use it for all remote transfers to S3 and SFTP servers. Also the bulk file renaming is a great feature. It allows for Regex replacements with numbered capture groups. Also you can stack the replacements so the results of one are passed into the next. Also the replacements are previewed live on the list of files so you can see what the results would be before committing. This is an amazing feature if you have a set of images for a website and the filenames are poorly formatted. Also the file syncing feature is great as well. It’s just easier to use this tool rather than trying to puzzle through rsync options on the command line.

Bug with El Capitan

Program freezes when trying to connect to Favourited sftp address in El Capitan.

Good

It takes time to get use to but I like it after all. It works well when you have to sync 2 folders in different location. Even on a web server.

WOW!

ForkLift is an intelligent tool. Love the look-and-feel! Easy configurations, faultless operations. Solid as a rock!

WindowsのAFx代替

WindowsのAFx等2画面キーボードファイラを使っていた人には良いと思います.設定でキーボードショートカットをCommanderにするだけで十分便利.

Best file management app for OS X. 2.5 is a great improvement!

I had used the old 1.7 version in the past and found it be a great FTP and file management tool. Unfortunately when 2.0 came out it did not meet up to my expectations but version 2.5 is fantastic. 5 stars!

Great with space for improvements

Better than Finder but I miss some non critical features. Id like to switch media with just one click on star. Actually, there should be some menu when you (right/left/alt) click on the address bar. Perhaps list of directory content, directory options... Also, when the path is very long, last items are not displayed -- middle items should be hidden, not last ones. Search should be more usefull. It at least should show path to the file in status bar. Otherwise Finders searching is great, so no reason to add advanced features. Last thing that bugs me is "Open in Terminal". Id like it to open new tab instead of using current one. Also, for my a more "iconic" icon would fit better in the dock. I use it all the time and am glad to have it.
