I grabbed it because it was only $1, but it makes me think that they are going to abandon this software, or this particular version anyway, come Yosemite...

once after update to Yosemite, it dose not opend. pls update this ASAP
The most recent update seems to have sped up the application by a noticable amount! My favorite FTP client for managing my web servers and multiple subdomains. The dual-pane is great for speed and productivity, and there are more features than I could ever use. The transfer que even makes transfering and backing up multiple files in different locations an easy task.
The new version is unusable on my mac. Just hangs from the minute I start it up. All other applications freeze up waiting for this app just to start up, and I mean ALL. This is after a restart, re-install of the application. I have to SSH in through terminal again. Old version worked great, this version states fixes compatability issues but seems to of blown up on my machine. Features are not just broke I can’t even get it to display my own files on my machine. I see the base window and a pinwheel. It takes 5 minutes just to force close.
I wowed a client today because I had Forklift open to an SFTP site, I clicked on the “Edit” menu item which opened my default editor… After I made some changes to an XML file, I saved it, flipped over to the website to immediately see the changes. Behind the scenes, Forklift had downloaded the file, put it into a temporary location, opened my editor, and uploaded the file back to the server automatically when the file timestamp had changed. Oh yeah, the Favorites and dual panes work great! Thanks!
Used to love this program. It was my go to file manager. Unfortunately it crashes on startup under Yosemite. For a critical piece of software like this, no excuse. It is currently unusuable for me.
I have been using Fork Lift for a long time, mainly for simply ftp connections to another computer. Recently I started using the Synclets feature to automize synchronization from one folder to another. I had a question, and the developer provided an answer very fast. Great app, superior customer service, that makes it a 5 star app for me.
Crashes whenever I try to open the “Downloads” folder, I get the pinwheel of death. I’ve contacted support and given the appropriate logs but still never heard from them.
Works great as an ftp/sftp client and has a few handy extras like the ability to compare folders and synchronize them (useful for DIY remote backups). Only reason it’s not 5star is that opening more than one window (under Yosemite, anyway) slows it down to an almost unusable crawl. Nice and speedy under any other conditions, though.
So far, I like Activities Panel, Sync and Hidden Files (just easier than Terminal or separate app). Good layout and wicked fast FTP. I use Transmit and Dreamweaver now, until now... Do not like: Any folder-sort creates lists of folders and files separately. Need them mixed sometimes. Haven’t found a way to change that. Also can’t unstuff a file from the server, to the server (I don’t think)
Thank you guys! :) From Yosemite 10.10.2 :)
Forklift used to work wonderfully, and for some reason it’s been very slow lately. I was hoping the new version would browse remote folders faster, which it does, but it’s still rather slow and unresponsive when scrolling down through a folder. I’m using another FTP client until the next update.
The app works well for me. SCP support would be a great addition
Incredibly slow transferring files.
I make huge use of this app on a daily basis, and would highly recommend it to anyone!
The directory listing is incorrect for IBM AIX Version 5. in telnet the directory is: drwxr-xr-x 4 ********* ********** 4096 Jun 25 19:55 public_html But in forklift it is: “25 19:55 public_html” I cannot enter that directory.
Very close to a competing product with a vehicle based logo that I used before upgrading OSes a few years ago. It’s been a stable, reliable app for day to day uploading and I’ve been happy to give it 5 stars except for one design flaw that I has caught me out twice now. My one complaint is that you can’t set the pane order to default to local on the left, remote on the right (every time you open it they switch back to remote on the left). You *can* switch the panes after opening the app, but it doesn’t remember your settings after closing it. If they fixed this it’d be a solid 5 star app.
I was looking for a solid FTP app and found this one after some research, it had everything I needed except for one feature that I was able to get resolved with the developer. The support was fast and friendly. Very fast syncing which was one of my main reason to purchase.
I have used this app for a long time and never needed help until recently. The app can take a very long time to update the remote files and at times, even loses track of files you have open. You think you saved it and in fact…it wasn’t. This is a real problem when you code for 100 hours a week. I reached out to support several times and each request was ignored by the developer. No response at all. Buyer beware.
The best and fastest FTP client I have found for Mac. I have been looking for a dual pane FTP client for quite some time. I have known about Forklift for years and I have even tried it once without really getting to know it. That’s because the app looks limited in functionality. It turns out it’s the opposite. In true Apple design fashion the power functions are hidden from view. I love that, it makes the app more elegant, but it requires a few extra minutes of playing around with the app and going over the help file. One reviewer complained that there was no way to permanently keep the remote server in the right pane and the local folder in the left. Each time you log in to a remote site you have to manually switch panes. But after spending some time with the help file I realized that you can create a Workspace for every login. Open the Favorites pane and create a new login. Login to your remote server. Decide in which pane you want the remote server to appear. In the local pane brows to the folder where you have your work files. Under the Favorites dropdown menu select Save Workspace. Name it and it will appear in the sidebar. Next time you want to login to your remote server just click the button in the sidebar, you are automatically logged in and the panes will adjust to your preferred configuration. I bought it as an FTP client but I have also found it to be an exceptional file browser. I wish I had bought Forklift sooner. Highly recommended!
